Important Notice Before You Register

This course is not intended for brand-new shooters. Students must already be proficient in basic pistol fundamentals, including load and make ready; clear and make safe (locking the slide to the rear); proper grip; trigger control; muzzle awareness; and loading magazines. Firearm safety is the highest priority at all times.

Students are expected to demonstrate safe gun handling during the handgun proficiency qualification. If basic safety or fundamental skills are not met or observed on the day of qualification, the student may be required to reschedule the proficiency portion for another date when these requirements can be safely met. No refunds will be issued. An additional $50 proficiency fee will apply for any return qualification session.

*Private lessons are available upon request and must be scheduled at least one (1) week in advance of the class date. These sessions are intended to help ensure and determine student readiness and success on the day of the class. Students who feel they may need additional preparation are encouraged to contact the instructor in advance for more information.

This policy exists to ensure the safety of all students and instructors and to maintain a professional, controlled learning environment.This Texas License to Carry (LTC) course provides the required classroom instruction and handgun proficiency qualification for individuals seeking to obtain or renew their Texas LTC.

The course covers Texas firearm laws, safe handgun handling, use of force, and the legal responsibilities of carrying a handgun in public. Students will gain a clear understanding of where and how they may legally carry, how Texas law defines use of force and deadly force, and why sound judgment and safety must always come first.
The proficiency portion consists of a live-fire handgun qualification conducted under instructor supervision. This portion evaluates basic firearm safety, safe gun handling, and the ability to fire a handgun accurately at set distances in accordance with Texas Department of Public Safety standards. No advanced shooting skills are required.
Instruction emphasizes a calm, professional learning environment designed for both new and experienced gun owners. Questions are encouraged, and the focus remains on safe, lawful, and responsible carry.
Course topics include:
  • Texas firearm and carry laws
  • Handgun safety and safe storage
  • Use of force and deadly force under Texas law
  • Non-violent dispute resolution
  • Responsibilities of licensed carry
  • Handgun proficiency qualification (live fire)
Upon successful completion of both the classroom instruction and proficiency qualification, students will receive the required certificate to submit with their Texas License to Carry application.
